STEM Integration is designed to foster schoolwide adoption of practices and systems that support equity-centered STEM learning for teachers and students. The program is place-based, innovative, and provides immersive coaching and support to refine and enhance district curriculum and instruction.
STEM Integration Includes
Each STEM Integration cohort experiences the following:
- a summer workshop
- one-to-one coaching throughout the academic year
- quarterly site visits to corporate STEM pipeline partners, and
- Novel Engineering Training in fall and spring.
The ISP’s STEM Integration program launched in August 2024 with a first cohort comprised of 50 educators representing Confluence Academies, Riverview Gardens School District and Thorpe Gordon STEM Academy (Jefferson City).

How it Evolved

The ISP’s STEM Integration program is an extension of the former STEM Teacher Quality (TQ) Initiative, an immersive, year-long professional learning experience that impacted 1,070+ teachers and 35,000+ students across the St. Louis region from 2011 to 2023. STEM TQ cohorts launched with two-week, immersive STEM Summer Institutes, followed by academic year offerings, including six afterschool sessions and three full-day field experiences made possible in partnership with corporate leaders in STEM career pipeline growth. A cornerstone of STEM TQ’s success was our responsiveness to feedback. Over time, the need for a more place-based program was expressed. After a year-long restructuring to leverage the best of STEM TQ with emerging needs and best practices, a new professional learning experience was developed, the STEM Integration Initiative.
