Alison is a researcher and evaluator interested in data-based decision making and how sociocultural contexts shape teaching and learning. At the ISP, she has conducted evaluations of STEM-focused curriculum materials and teacher professional learning programs. She also supports school and district data initiatives and leads educator preparation for the ISP practitioner research showcase. From 2021-2024, she co-led the research team for STEM District Immersion, a regional research-practice partnership focused on middle school math improvement. Alison has an MS in teaching students with disabilities and an MA in urban education.
In addition to her research and evaluation work, Alison develops video content for the ISP, including science learning videos for mySci curriculum materials. Outside of education, Alison has extensive experience in art, photography, and video production, and has worked on documentaries about Balkan brass music, Lezginka dancing, participatory budgeting, and climate activism. Before joining the ISP, she taught history, writing, and video production in Brooklyn, NY.
