Carmen Stayton began her career in education in 2009 as a Teach For America corps member in Kansas City. She has served in a variety of roles, including teaching kindergarten, preschool, third grade, and special education for grades K-6. Carmen’s leadership positions, working as an instructional coach for the Special School District of St. Louis County and as the Dean of Students at South City Preparatory Academy.
In 2022, Carmen joined the Institute for School Partnership (ISP) at Washington University in St. Louis as a Math Instructional Specialist, where she supports educators in enhancing math instruction and fostering student success. She also serves on the Special School District of St. Louis County Board of Education, advocating for equitable educational opportunities for all students.
Carmen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Dubuque, a Master of Arts in Education/Student Affairs from the University of Dubuque, and a Master of Arts in Education/Early Childhood Education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL).
