Deontá serves the ISP as a Math314 Instructional Specialist. He began his career in education in 2013, inspired by his early work supporting students through a local tutoring program and later joining Teach For America. Over the years, he has served in a variety of roles, including lead teacher for grades 1–4, a new teacher mentor, assistant principal coaching KG through 4th grade, and principal of a PreK–4 elementary school. Most recently,  Deonta was an early elementary instructional specialist supporting math instruction and ensuring student access to high-quality learning experiences. He is particularly passionate about supporting early elementary teachers and students in building strong mathematical foundations. Grounded in a deep belief in the power of community, he is committed to contributing to the village of elementary education—supporting students, families, and teachers as interconnected partners in student success.

Deontá holds a B.A.  in Psychology from Winthrop University and a Master of Education in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (UMSL).
