Tech Saturdays
These workshops offered by the ISP are a great way for K-8 teachers to build skills that help make connections to curriculum using tech tools and programs. These free, hands-on learning sessions are offered six times a year on WashU’s Danforth campus.
Educator Showcase
The Educator Showcase is an annual event designed to elevate teacher leaders and administrators from across the St. Louis region to share what they have learned about broad range of teaching strategies and approaches by collaborating with the ISP.
Summer Teacher Researcher
The Summer Teacher Researcher Program is one of the many ways that the ISP provides campus-wide support for WashU faculty to develop partnership and outreach opportunities with St. Louis-area schools.
St. Louis Area Brain Bee
SLABB is an annual event for high school students that are interested in the brain and neuroscience. Demonstrations, panels, and materials come from Brain Facts, a book published by the Society for Neuroscience. The winner of SLABB has an opportunity to compete in the US national Brain Bee competition. The ISP proudly provides administrative support for this event.
WashU Mathematical Excellence Competition
WUMEC, hosted by WashU’s Math Club, is open to all high school students, offering both individual and team competitions, giving participants the chance to strengthen their mathematical skills and apply them to real-world challenges. It’s more than just a contest—it’s an opportunity to connect with peers, compete, and grow as problem solvers. The ISP proudly provides administrative support for this event.
ISP Book Clubs
Many successful educators find themselves in leadership roles without substantive training on leading teams. The ISP supports teams of K-12 leaders (district administrators, principals) with guided book club opportunities. These are facilitated by our seasoned educational leaders and instructional specialists.
Researcher for a Day
Bring your middle school students to WashU’s Danforth campus for a hands-on lab experience led by one of the University’s leading researcher/scientists. Students will wear lab coats, goggles, and be invited to think about themselves as problem-solvers for this day of group learning and fun.
Novel Engineering Training
Let the ISP help teachers from your school or district learn all about Novel Engineering, an engineering-inspired literacy concept pioneered by the School of Engineering Center for Education and Outreach at Tufts University. Inspired by kids and grounded in research, Novel Engineering is an innovative integration of engineering in elementary and middle school classrooms with a literary focus.
Teacher Leadership Program (TLI)
The ISP regularly collaborates with peer leaders in the regional education network to offer professional learning programs and services that address the needs of the professionals who lead our schools and districts. These opportunities are creative, flexible and inspiring. For an example of programs we co-create for educational leaders in our region, read about the ISP’s Teacher Leadership Program.
